About the Foundation

Buddy Stewart Music Foundation is an entity of a former business that has served the Baton Rouge community for over 30 years. Originally known as Buddy Stewart's Rock Shop, it was one of the largest minority family owned and operated music stores in South Louisiana. The record store came about as a result of Buddy's passion for music. He was a band leader with a big band sound and the ability to sing, write, play and promote the art of music. Buddy understood the historical impact of music in our lives, so with that The Rock Shop no longer exists as a retail store, with the evolution of music, but as an antique record shop with one of the largest vinyl collections on display in South Louisiana. The shop is still visited by collectors and music enthusiasts from all over the world.
